This wonderfully sentimental pendant is crafted from brass (not gold) and is decorated with a multi coloured enamel pansy flower to its centre.
During the Georgian and Victorian eras, the pansy was synonymous with the french word 'Penser', 'which means, 'To Think'. So you would often find antique jewellery with the pansy on it, depicting loving thoughts of another. On this pendant, underneath the pansy are the french words, 'A Moi' meaining, 'Of me'. Therefore, roughly translated, this pendant means, 'Think of me'
The pendant is a perfect circle of 2.3cms and it weighs 4.8g. Despite its age, it remains in excellent antique condition with only very small signs of general wear.
